~Summer Dreams~
Now playing: "Summer Breeze"
VERSE
Cooped up in a classroom, my thoughts were on the summer months, already plans were made. To have fun outside until the sun's rays did fade.
School's out, time to play in the sun.
Weeks on end of nothing but fun.
Thoughts and dreams of what will be.
Oh to be a child again
To run wild and be free.
With my shoes beneath my bed, I hurried outside to enjoy a long summer day. Fishing, hiking, camping, and sometimes swimming in the bay.
Barefoot and bee stings, covered in mud.
Butterflies flitting from bud to bud.
Daydreaming and visions I would see.
Oh to be a child again
To run wild and be free.
As I laid on my back in the long green grass. I would imagine the shapes of the clouds as they passed.
Watching the cloud ships sail 'oer the sky,
To far away places we can't deny.
Stars point the way to the next galaxy.
Oh to be a child again
To run wild and be free.
Then the time for a vacation within a vacation did arrive. And the family was packed up for a very long drive.
Trips to the beach on the ocean blue,
Sandcastles to build for me and for you.
Life is an adventure, you will see.
Oh to be a child again
To run wild and be free.
Now in my old age my mind can see. The summer, the beach, and you and me. Life has a way of going back to then. So I will never be a child again. But I can still go to the beach ... to run wild and be free.
